Facebook to abandon news content deals

Facebook News will be deprecated in early April for users in Australia and the US, following the deprecation in the UK, France and Germany that occurred last year. Meta is focussing on “products and services people value the most” which include short form video and helping users connect with people.

With the EU’s Digital Markets Act being enforced, Google has made some changes in order to be compliant with the new regulations. This includes changes to Search results, choice screen and additional consent for linking Google services.

Marketers point to data analysis as biggest skills gap in teams, survey says

Data and analytics seem to be the biggest skills gap within marketing, followed by performance marketing skills, content and copywriting skills, social media, and lastly, e-commerce. Senior marketers have expressed the lack of upskilling opportunities as opposed to middle management and junior marketers.

Trend change detection

Google Analytics can detect subtle changes over a longer period of time in your data as a trend change. This is displayed in an Insight card in the Insights and Recommendations section of the Home page, in Reports snapshot and Advertising snapshot, and in the Insights hub. Similar to anomaly detection, users can identify trends in their data without manually analysing datasets.

Audience Profile Analysis deprecation

The Audience Profile Analysis feature will be deprecated as Google focuses on building durable and future-proof solutions regarding audiences. This will simplify DV360’s audience portfolio that are affected by 3PCD.

Floodlight activity legacy tag deprecation

New Image and iFrame versions of Floodlight tags will be deprecated across CM360, bulk tools and API from July 2024. This deprecation aims to help users transition to a more durable implementation of Floodlights. Conversion events from Floodlight tags that have Image or iFrame format will be still be processed.

New user role profile

A new user role profile, email-only without billing role, has been added to SA360 which allow users to view reports via email even without access to the SA360 UI. Role permissions will not be editable for this level.

Google Ads has introduced new advertising features that incorporate AR and VR, helping make ads more interactive and engaging with users. With a focus on retail, new AR features offer product try-ons and 3D visuals of products that allow users to spin and zoom a 3D model of an advertiser’s product. These features will be launched in Q2 2024.

Conversion domains bulk edit via SDF and API

Inferred conversion domains will now be automatically updated on a daily basis based on recent conversion activity. The ability to manually set conversion domains still remains but can now also be set via SDF and the CM360 API for bulk editing.

New price transparency reports for Display & Video 360 and Campaign Manager 360 advertisers in the EEA

Advertisers can view details for each billable advertisement on third-party and Google-owned surfaces in the EEA if opted-in to access price data. This greatly enhances transparency with views on daily fees.
